Abstract

This report presents forecast and recent quarter review of Taiwanese feature phone shipment volume, shipment value, ASP, volume and share by maker and by price point, and manufacturer volume ranking. The report also includes product mix analyses, including phone type, system technology, display color count mix, embedded camera and camera array format, and handset shape. Assembly levels, production locations, shipment destinations, business types, and customer portfolios are also examined. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with feature phone makers. The report finds that Taiwanese feature phone industry, which saw moderate sequential growth in shipment volume and value in the fourth quarter of 2010, began to experience declines in the first quarter of 2011. With significant decreases in both shipment volume and ASP, the industry's first-quarter shipment value witnessed sequential and year-on-year drops as a result. Although the industry's shipment volume enjoyed strong year-on-year growth in the first quarter of 2011 and the year-on-year growth momentum is expected to continue will into the second quarter, it is forecasted that not until the third quarter of 2011 will the Taiwanese feature phone industry begin to see sequential shipment volume and value increase.
